A brief history of MAN 

In 2015 MAN celebrated its 100 year anniversary. Another milestone on an exhilarating journey.

1915      
Lastwagenwerke MAN Saurer is registered in the City of Nuremberg on 21st of June. Production of the 3-tonne MAN Saurer truck begins the same year.
 

1928      
MAN enters the heavy-duty truck market with its first three-axle truck.

 
1950    
The 180 hp V8 MAN F8 becomes the flagship of the new Federal Republic of Germany.

 

1961      
MAN introduces the 750 HO, the world’s first modular bus.

 

1978      
The Type 19.280 is the first MAN truck to receive the coveted ‘Truck of the Year’ Award.

 

1992      
MAN introduces the Lion's Star, a new name for a new generation of travel buses.

 

2000     
"Trucknology" is born, setting new standards for comfort, ergonomics and driving technology.

 

2001     
MAN strengthens its position in the premium travel bus market with the acquisition of NEOPLAN.

 

2004     
MAN becomes the first manufacturer to embrace common rail diesel technology, introducing a new generation of economical, environmentally friendly engines across its entire product range.

 

2010     
MAN begins production of the Lion's City Hybrid, a low carbon bus that offers a 30% reduction in fuel consumption.

 

2012      
MAN’s Euro 6 vehicles achieve new standards for exhaust emissions, without compromising fuel efficiency.


2014
MAN introduces the new D38 engine - a product of almost 100 years' experience.
